Honnrd Sr

Coppy

I had the Honnr of kissing his Majties hand in Councill Last Febry at
wch time I laid before them the Draught of Canada River
and did Intimate the good service that might be done against the french
by two light Frigates and a fire Ship, if they were ordered to Cruise in that
River in the months of May June July & August wch are the usuall
months the French of these parts have supplies sent from France, and they
might be Intercepted wth little charge to their Majties whose subjects
in these northern parts of America are Severely Galed by the Canada
French and such of the heathen who they have prosilited to their Interest
I did ofer my service in this affair, and my Lord Falkland assures
me that Ships should be sent me here early next spring for this occation
and that I should be appointed Comadore of them, now if it is ordered
that Ships are appointed for this service against next spring and yt
I may be esteemd worthy of the trust of being Comadore I hope
according to yor wanted friendship to me, you will not forget to
recomend me in this affair to the Lords of the Admirallity and to such
others who shall have the Mannagmt of the Expedition.
the proper time for Ships to come out will be in March and it will
be Necessary they be orderd to Touch here before they goe upon their cruise
about Two months since the Easterne Enemy Indians abbeted by
the french made three attacks upon some of our Fronteer places where
they killd and Carryd away 140 English and are daylie Expecting
to hear of more mischief done by them

Soon after my arrivall from the west Indies wch was in August
Last, two Small privateer sloops 25 men in each brought into
this port a large ffly boat, bound from france to Quebeck Laden
wth stores and other things proppr for that Plantacon valued by their
French Invoyces at 1900£ sterll the Comanders of said Sloops report
that in Canada River where they met the fly boat there were Ten
sayle more of vessells bound up to Quebec wch they say might all have
been taken and destroyed by Two Ships of Force

Honnr ed and kinde Sr I have already been very serviceable of yor respects
to me and if I live and am capable I shall studdy how I may
be most gratefull for what is alredy & remaines to be done for
